Now that we’ve introduced your topic with a short and catchy title, it’s time to write your introduction.
If the Holy Trinity had Instagram accounts, the Holy Spirit would probably get the fewest followers—not because He’s less powerful, but because He’s the most misunderstood.
We easily relate to God the Father or Jesus the Son. But the Holy Spirit? A dove? A flame? A breeze?
1. The Spirit Is with You in Chaos
The very first time we meet the Holy Spirit is in the second verse of the Bible:
“Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” – Genesis 1:2 (NIV)
The Holy Spirit wasn’t scared of darkness or chaos from the beginning. He hovered over it, ready to create beauty out of it.
Friend, if your life feels messy right now—if you’re overwhelmed, broken, or afraid—the Spirit hasn’t abandoned you. He’s there, hovering. Waiting for your invitation: “Come, Holy Spirit.”
But What If You Don’t See Him?
One of the most asked questions I get online is this:
“Why isn’t God answering my prayers?”
“Why does it feel like He’s not doing anything?”
That’s real. The silence of God can be a painful experience. You might ask, Natutulog ba ang Diyos? (Is God asleep?)
The Hebrew word for “Spirit” is Ruach—which means breath or wind. You can’t see breath, but you know it’s there. You can’t see the wind, but you can hear it move—and if strong enough, it can uproot trees.
Just because you don’t see the Spirit working doesn’t mean He isn’t. Often, the most incredible miracles are happening in the unseen.
The Holy Spirit doesn’t give us goosebumps. He gives us the grace to keep going.
He recreates our chaos into beauty.
He turns even our worst moments into growth.
2. The Holy Spirit Isn’t a Shortcut—He’s a Partner
Let me share a funny moment:
A teenager once asked me to pray over him before his final exam. I said, “Sure! But how’s your review?” He laughed and said, “Actually, Brother, I didn’t study… that’s why I need minding Holy Spirit intervention!”
I almost said “NYE!” on the spot. The Holy Spirit isn’t a lucky charm or magic spell. He’s not here to make up for our laziness.
He’s a partner—not a replacement for responsibility.
3. The Spirit Has Never Left
When we pray, “Come, Holy Spirit,” we’re not calling Him from far away.
He’s already here.
Even before time began, the Spirit hovered over creation. Psalm 104 paints this beautiful image:
“When You send Your Spirit, they are created, and You renew the face of the ground.”
– Psalm 104:30 (NIV)
The Spirit didn’t clock out after Genesis. He is still creating, sustaining, and renewing the earth—and your life.
So next time you’re tempted to shout louder in worship, thinking you’ll summon the Spirit—relax. He’s already present. Your prayer is not to bring Him near but to become aware of His nearness.
4. The Spirit Is In All Things
Once, I was at a prayer gathering where the leader thanked the Holy Spirit for the food—and prayed that the Spirit would “remove the cholesterol from the lechon.” (Nice try!)
Here’s the truth: The Spirit isn’t just in church. He’s in creation, in daily life, in every breath. Not because everything is God—that’s pantheism—but because God is in everything (that’s panentheism).
As St. Paul wrote:
“There is one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all.” – Ephesians 4:6 (NLT)
That’s why I feel close to God when I ride my bike or run outdoors. The wind on my face, the sky above, and the trees around me remind me that I’m not alone. The Spirit surrounds us, speaks to us, and grounds us truthfully.
5. The Spirit Works Through People Like You
Ever wonder how the Bible was written?
It wasn’t a scroll that fell from heaven. The Spirit inspired real, broken people—full of flaws and fears—and used their personalities, stories, and culture to write the Word of God.
That same Spirit wants to work through you.
When I first started preaching, I had no pace or tone—I just shouted through my talk! But mentors like Bro. Bo Sanchez and Bro. Obet Cabrillas and Bro. Vic Español patiently guided me. Slowly, I improved. But more than technique, it was the Spirit who empowered my growth.
You don’t need to be perfect. You need to say “yes.”
The Spirit That Filled Jesus Is Filling You Too
Jesus became human to show us what life looks like when the Spirit fully leads you.
The same Spirit that filled Jesus… fills you.
You don’t need to chase the Holy Spirit. You’re already in His presence.
“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence?” – Psalm 139:7 (NIV)
You can’t escape the Spirit—He’s already where you are.
So when we say “Come Holy Spirit,” what we’re praying is:
“Make me more aware of You.”
“Make me more open to You.”
Because the Spirit isn’t just entering our story.
We’re stepping into His.
Need a breakthrough? Feeling stuck?
Sometimes, we need more than more advice—but an authentic encounter with the Spirit of God.
Let’s pray: Come Holy Spirit. I don’t just want to hear You—I want to follow You. I give You my chaos. I give You my fear. I give You my dreams. Please fill me with power, peace, and purpose. Amen.
