About 10 years ago, my friend Miguel showed me a gift that was given to him by his dad – a Canon 300D. That camera was Canon’s first entry-level Digital SLR.
I took a lot of blurry shots at first, but the challenge of learning how to balance the shutter speed, ISO, and the aperture was amazing. Plus, finding the best way to frame a photo were the main reasons why I fell in love with photography.
I knew that I needed my own camera so I bought a Nikon D40, it was Nikon’s entry-level Digital SLR.
Taking a good photo just meant so much to me so I worked hard for so that I could become a good photographer, I took a lot of photos and I asked for tips from a lot of people.
Eventually, I upgraded to a Nikon D80, started buying lenses, Speedlight, and other photography equipment.
I knew that my investments were worth it because I was getting hired to cover events, and it was fantastic!
Let me show you a few photos that I took a few years ago.
I still love looking at these photos.
Mark Twain said that there are only 2 important dates in your life: the day you were born, and the day you find out why. Somewhere between 2005 and 2015, I was able to find my BIG WHY in life.
I found out that I am living in this world to add value to people, to help people through speaking, listening, coaching, writing, and other forms of leadership.
I gave my 100% for my passion and purpose and I loved every single moment of it. The only sad thing is that I didn’t have much time to do photography anymore.
There were months that I wouldn’t use my camera and bringing it everywhere was becoming a hassle L
After attending Blogopolis 2015 last Saturday at Dusit Hotel Makati, I went home asking myself how can I improve my blog? That’s when I had an “A-ha!” moment.
After learning from all the speakers, I realized that I was boxing myself too much with the kind blogs that I write. I should expand my horizon by using every skill and talent that God has given me.
Talents such as reading books and watching movies; starting today I’ll now be posting blogs related to books and movies. Watch out for it please J
And of course, I can now bring my camera again everywhere; I can use it for my blog (if you have suggestions on how I can do it, please let me know).
Because I haven’t used my camera a lot the past two years, my skills are now rusty but it’s time to sharpen these talents again. I’m excited! J
These past few days, I thought about my talents and I realized that there’s a reason why God gave us so many talents, and for some people, their talents are just so varied.
My point is don’t waste your talents, your mission is to figure out why you have different talents, and how can you use them to grow yourself as a person and most of all how can you use your talents to touch the lives of other people.
Friend, what are you doing with your talents?
The best is yet to come,
